The very first self-propelled scissor lift to carry the Plafolift brand dates back to 1979, although the company was founded in 1973. The company evolved from a high-end welding shop to a premier lifting solutions provider for clients with materials handling challenges.
Plafolift gradually got into the designing and manufacturing of all kinds of lifting products besides its growing business in aerial work platforms: freight elevators, lifting tables, loading docks, truck/trailer-mounted scissor lifts, etc. As demand grew, so did the company’s facilities.
In 2004, the company changed hands. Guy Duchesne and Pierre Girouard took over the management of the firm. Guy is president and Pierre is VP Operations. Their vision is to build an organization whose name first comes to mind for clients with challenging people and materials lifting problems, no matter where they are, no matter what industry they compete in.
Plafolift distinguishes itself from its global competitors by focusing on ergonomics and innovation for improved worker safety and productivity. Plafolift offers what it calls the Ergo-Innovation Program™ that provides clients with improved profitability by delivering lifting products and solutions in the most timely and most cost effective manner in the industry.
Today, Plafolift continues to produce an extensive range of aerial work platforms. The company does however focus on tailor-made lifting products and solutions for medium and large size corporations. Our products can be found in mines, in aluminum production facilities, under water in Las Vegas, in distribution centers, in big box stores, in airports, on highways doing bridge maintenance and in numerous manufacturing plants. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
Plafolift brings together a professional management team backed by motivated and creative workers. In fact, when the word impossible comes to clients’ minds when confronted with a unique lifting challenge, their first reflex is to call Plafolift. The company is certified ISO 9001 (2000) and is a member of the Canadian Welding Bureau.
