A CSA Requirement that must be met
According to the provisions of the CSA B354.2-01 standard, any motorized aerial work platform must not only be inspected daily but also periodically after each 200 hours of usage. Moreover, motorized aerial work platforms must also de thoroughly inspected after 700 hours of operation or annually (whichever comes first). Periodic and annual inspections of your motorized aerial work platforms are opportunities to ensure everything is in proper working order (and thoroughly documented), not only because you care about worker safety but also because you want to protect the value of your capital investment.
Incredibly Harsh Penalties
The CSST does the policing to ensure the standard is followed and it expects proper documentation as per the standard. Periodic and annual inspections that are done on time and fully documented constitute the very best way to ensure you and your people won’t personally be exposed to criminal penalties (imprisonment and unlimited fines) as stipulated in Bill C-45 should a serious worker accident occur and your equipment be found to contravene the standard.
